Upon completion of this course one is expected to understand the basic concepts of medical anthropology; comprehend the anthropological approach to public health and understand the rationale for ethnographic and qualitative research methods used in medical anthropology. Participants will be from the partner countries including Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan. Tunisia. They will be mainly mid and senior level researchers and academics in public health.
Lebanese Epidemiological Association (LEA) 18th Annual Conference: “SYRIAN REFUGEES in LEBANON: Social and Health Impact” (Beirut, Lebanon, from Nov 30, 2013 09:00 AM to Nov 30, 2013 06:00 PM)
This year's LEA's Conference aims to assess the progress, gaps and prospects of the response to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon. Presentations will be under the following themes Prevention and control of communicable diseases; Primary health care (PHC) needs and resources; Injuries and trauma; Vulnerable groups: children, women, older adults, persons with special needs; Social and mental issues; Education and training needs and resources; Socioeconomic burden of the refugee crisis.

A health policy evaluation workshop will be held in Jordan during 3-6 June 2013. The aim of the workshop is to build research capacities in the area of health policy evaluation among the mid to senior level researchers and policy makers within the RESCAP-MED partner countries. The workshop will be facilitated by experts from the region on this topic. Specific case studies on health policy analysis will be presented from the partner countries. Dr. Shahaduz Zaman of Newcastle University, UK will coordinate the workshop.
