Public health conference – School of Public Health, Al-Quds University- Jerusalem , Palestine

On April 25th 2013, the second public health conference “Public health in Palestine: challenges, research and implications” was held at Al-Quds university- Jerusalem. The aim of this conference was to present research done in the public health field, share it with policy makers in health sector as well as other sectors related to health. Also it aimed to discuss the main challenges facing public health in the oPt. Over than 50 oral and poster presentations were presented at the conference covering a wide range of topics. Those have been grouped under three themes: community public health, health policy & management, and community mental health.
In this conference, several researches related to non-communicable disease were presented. Those included

  • Effect of diabetes education program on Type 2 Diabetic patients in Tulkarm Directorate of Health.
  • Quality of life and its determinants among Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 attending the MOH primary health care centers in the northern districts of the West Bank.
  • Evaluation of HbA1c for diagnosing type 2 Diabetes and Pre-diabetes among Palestinians.
  • Risk factors of metabolic syndrome among patients with cardiovascular disease in Gaza occupied Palestinians territories
  • Quality of life of Palestinian cancer patients in the absence of palliative care service.
  • Colorectal cancer risk factors in Gaza Governorates.
  • Factors affecting compliance to anti-hypertensive drug treatment and required lifestyle modifications among patients attending PHC in Bethlehem district.
